Thon Hotel Svolvær is a modern hotel project on the quayside at the entrance to Svolvær Harbour. The hotel contain 211 rooms distributed over floors 2 – 6, + reception, restaurant, kitchen and conference room on floor 1.
Together with main structural designer we solved an issue in the reception/hall where end customer wanted open space and ceiling height. We were able to replace a 3 meter high concrete beam with our DELTABEAM®, so we achieved smooth ceiling flush with the slab/floor above. We also managed the 16-meter span so we avoided columns in center of reception (beam length 21 meters).
We also delivered our T-beam (Tau-beam), a simplified steel beam which maintains the same fire requirements and properties as the DELTABEAM®. Often used in short spans, such as corridors for example.
